At the beginning of this year, my phone was stolen, and unfortunately, I never had the chance to recover the cost because I didn’t have theft insurance. After saving money for several months, I finally decided to buy an iPhone 17 Pro Max 1TB through Back Market.
Honestly, I was a little nervous about buying a refurbished phone. The same device costs around €2,000 at the Apple Store, while I paid approximately €1,300 on Back Market. I was worried it might arrive scratched, damaged, or with visible signs of wear.
I genuinely never imagined I would get the same phone that was stolen from me, with even more storage, for a much lower price, and in what looks and feels like a brand-new condition.
The phone arrived in a white box and was absolutely immaculate, just like a device straight from the Apple Store. It had 0 battery cycles, which strongly suggests the battery had been replaced or the device had never been used. The screen was flawless, with not a single scratch, and the back of the phone was in perfect condition.
This model has an aluminium design, and unfortunately, it has a reputation for being particularly easy to scratch. Mine arrived without a single mark, dent or scratch. Literally, it looked brand new!
Delivery was incredibly fast, too. My phone arrived just two days after ordering. I was also able to pay through Klarna in three interest-free instalments, which made a huge difference financially and gave me some breathing room after such an expensive purchase.
This is a very expensive device, and I rely on my phone for my work in the music industry, so having a reliable device is essential for me. So far, the phone has been perfect, and my overall experience with Back Market has been excellent. The only downside is that it took a little longer than expected to get answers to some questions I had about insurance.
If you’re thinking about buying this phone, I would absolutely recommend checking Back Market before paying full price at Apple. For me, the savings were incredible, and the quality exceeded all my expectations.
One additional tip for anyone buying in Ireland: if you want theft protection, make sure you check your insurance options carefully. I decided to arrange insurance straight away and looked into external providers such as Love It Cover It. Always check the policy terms to confirm exactly what is covered, including theft.
And please, be careful with pickpockets, everyone! Learn from my experience.
