I ordered a Nintendo Switch OLED but received a standard Nintendo Switch. Back Market acknowledged that this was an error and that the product received did not match the order. I understand that this type of error can happen from time to time. However, the way the situation was handled was very disappointing. I was only offered €25 to keep the wrong product or return it and start the whole process from scratch. What makes it even worse is that I paid €226.86 for a Nintendo Switch OLED, but the model I received is currently listed on their platform for around €179. Overall, I've overpaid, received the wrong product and the compensation offered is so low that I'm still overpaying for a product I didn't even order. I asked for compensation of around €100-120, which I consider reasonable in this situation. Approximately €50 would be to adjust the price to the actual value of the product received, and the other €50 as compensation for the inconvenience, including the inconvenience of being stuck with an incorrect model that does not meet the specifications I needed. In that case, my total cost would have been €126.86, which would better reflect a fair situation. Furthermore, there are multiple versions and prices of both standard and OLED Nintendo Switch on their platform, depending on the seller and condition of the product. Precisely because of this, I consider that these variations should not be a justification for not being able to provide the correct product when the error is clear. I was also told that they could not send me an OLED because the assigned reconditioner was out of stock. I understand that they work with different vendors, but as a customer I purchased through Back Market, not from a specific vendor. The fact that the product is available on the platform but not offered to me as a solution shows a lack of accountability in handling the problem. It gives the impression that Back Market was primarily interested in resolving their own process (i.e. me returning the product), but not in resolving my need as a customer, which was to receive the OLED version I had purchased. Instead of taking on this responsibility, the only solution proposed was for me to return the product, wait for them to review it, and then make a new purchase on my own. This completely shifts the burden onto the customer, when the error was not mine. For future purchases (e.g. a phone like the Google Pixel 10), it now makes me question whether it might not be easier to pay a little more in a physical shop like MediaMarkt, where at least I know I will receive the correct product without having to go through this kind of process. Furthermore, this experience makes me question whether Back Market would actually be willing to properly resolve a similar problem in the future, suggesting a possible structural problem in the way they handle this kind of situation. To this day, I am still overpaid for the product I received and I am not satisfied with the €25 compensation offered. I am open to updating this review if Back Market decides to offer compensation more in line with the situation, in the region of €100, as I feel this would demonstrate a more customer-centric approach and build confidence in their processes in the long term. Such a resolution would make me feel like a satisfied customer and reinforce my confidence in the brand.
